Popular Proverbs Verses about life, love, and wisdom

Proverbs verses about life

I love reading the book of Proverbs. And honestly, it’s the inspiration behind many of the articles on this blog. It’s a beautiful collection of practical advice, guidelines, and God’s wisdom.

The primary purpose of the book of proverbs is to teach us how to obtain wisdom, be disciplined and live a God-honoring life.

Something we all need help with.

The following bible verses cover a number of major themes and include bible verses about happiness, bible verses about love, and bible verses about trusting God

And even though God’s word can be hard to understand at times, this book is easier to get into and includes a lot of well-known bible verses you may already know.

Especially, if you make use of a study bible like mine that provides verse-by-verse commentary to help you better understand the circumstances and language used in those times.

The book of Proverbs is one of my favorite books in the old testament and therefore I decided to share popular Proverbs verses that I enjoy and know will strengthen your faith in hard times.

The Book of Proverbs

Before we get into this wisdom literature, let me share some background information with you. The chapters of Proverbs are a collection of works that began during the reign of King Solomon, the son of David and King of Israel.

It is said to have been written around 700bc when the men of Hezekiah, king of Judah, collected his sayings. As mentioned above, it includes a lot of inspirational bible verses in the form of short sayings.

What are Proverbs?

If you are wondering about the meaning of a proverb, here is a short definition from the Life Application Study Bible (NIV).

A simple and concrete saying that uses common sense or experience to convey a truth.

While bible proverbs are often cited in graduation speeches and on love notes to close friends, I challenge you to not just read the following scripture but to meditate on the thoughts and lessons shared with us in the book of Proverbs.

What is the best verse in Proverbs?

If you are looking for a recommendation of the most popular Bible verses from Proverbs, then I got you.

Here is my favorite bible verse that I believe every woman needs to know. And that is:

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; an all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Honestly, I believe this is one of the best Bible verses because it has given me strength whenever I had little faith.

Knowing and understanding that I can trust in the steadfast love of God and let go of my worries and fears has helped me grow tremendously.

But now, on to the full list of popular proverbs verses!

I love sharing bible verses with you, however, it wouldn’t be right if I did not share with you how I come up with blog posts like this one.

The truth is, it takes a lot of research and studying. And if you are not in seminary, understanding the bible can be tricky. So, what I do is I use the NIV, Life Application Study Bible.

I have been using it since 2015 and absolutely love it.

Yes, the cover has pretty much fallen apart, but I still have all my pages and use this Bible all the time. It is perfect for anyone that wants to take a deeper look into scripture and draw even closer to God.

I especially love that at the beginning of every book they set the scene for you. With an introduction summary, a timeline, and a map that illustrates what was going on at the time.

The only downside is that the paper is pretty thin. But I can’t see my highlighter color through it, so it’s still fine. If you are looking for a super cute and feminine bible, then check out this really good deal on Amazon
