3 Ways to master Valentine’ Day as a Single Woman
I know that for some Single girls the holiday season leading up to Valentine’s Day is a really hard time.
It feels like there are lovers all over the place and you’re the only one strolling through the park by yourself. Wondering, where is my boo? You try to be strong and dismiss the feelings, but deep down you really want a boyfriend for Valentine’s Day.

The below Bible Verses have been quoted from the Life Application Study Bible (NIV).
The last thing I want to do is to dismiss your situation and act as if it isn’t important. Because it is to you. Instead, I want to look at things you can do to overcome the feeling of loneliness and frustration.
Entrust your desires to God
God knows each one of your desires and cares for them. He understands your feelings because he created them.
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” – Genesis 2:18 NIV
You can be sure that God knows that you are not feeling good about being alone. At the same time, you need to remember that God will bring you “The One” when the time is right.
So, entrust Him with your desires and surrender your cares. You will be surprised how much more enjoyable your single season can be if God’s peace fills your heart.
Guard your heart
The reason why the end of January to February is such a hard season for singles is because everything around us focuses on showcasing love.
Suddenly there are way more romantic comedies on TV, far too many love songs on the radio and everybody has Valentine’s Day themed Facebook Pictures (so corny). Is that a coincidence? No! It’s called marketing. And the only thing you can do against it is to guard your heart.
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. – Proverbs 4:23
So, if you just listened to Adele on your way home from work, don’t be surprised if you are feeling a little sad.
She has a beautiful voice, but she mainly things about heartbreak and romance. And while I do not suggest locking yourself in, I do recommend not watching romantic movies or listening to love songs for a while.
Because they will influence the way you feel and magnify situations that are already bothering you. So, instead of listening to love songs, listen to worship music and put yourself in a situation that will make you feel fabulous.
Renew your mind
Like every holiday season, Valentine’s Day was invented to make money to remind people of the importance of Love in their lives. There is no reason why you as a single girl can’t do the same even if you don’t have a boyfriend for Valentine’s Day.
You share Love with different people every day. Your family, your friends, your colleagues and hopefully God. So why not use the time leading up to Valentine’s Day to renew your mind daily and get closer to God.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12: 2
Let’s get your eyes off being in Love and on understanding Love. Only if you know how God intended this powerful emotion to be given and received you will be able to nurture and maintain a healthy relationship in the future.
Which means plenty of beautiful holidays in the future with a husband or a boyfriend for Valentine’s Day.
