Knotless braids on 4c hair
There are so many fun braiding hairstyles, but none comes close to the popularity of the knotless braids.
Ever since 2020, black women all over the world have been obsessed with this protective style.
And while I enjoy simple styles where I only use my own hair, I also love changing it up from time to time with some extension hair.
So, I figured in this post I want to share all the different knotless braids hairstyles.
10 Fun and Cute Knotless Braids Hairstyles to try in 2025
1) Jumbo Knotless braids
The main difference between knotless box braids and regular box braids is the way you secure the braid at the beginning. The knotless technique looks much more sleek and doesn’t have the big knot at the start. Especially with jumbo braids it’s perfect as you tend to use a lot of braiding hair which can look bulky and be hard to attach. It’s also quick, given the little amount of parts.
2) Large Knotless braids
Large knotless braids are very similar to number one, however, a tiny bit smaller than jumbo knotless braids. I would also argue that these braids can be considered a protective hairstyle, given that they require less parting and don’t pull your edges as much.
3) Medium Knotless Braids
Medium knotless braids are probably the most popular alternative to traditional braids. They are very low manipulation and can last months. So if you are a fan of long braids you, will love medium braids.
4) Small Knotless Braids
I usually prefer getting small knotless braids because they don’t put a lot of tension on my delicate edges. Which is important, because I have very little and fine hair.
5) Micro Knotless Braids
While I’m not a big fan of micro braids, I have seen quite a few people do the hairstyle. It works very well if you have thick healthy hair, that won’t suffer from the weight of the hair. And of course, be mindful that smaller braids take a much longer amount of time.
6) Ombre Knotless Braids
I love a good Ombre look, so of course I get Ombre colored synthetic braiding hair whenever I can. For women of color it’s a nice little change and brings a pop of color.
7) Blonde Knotless Braids
And if you love color and want to go all the way, then try out blonde knotless braids.
8) Goddess Knotless Braids
Now let’s get into the different vacation looks you can rock with knotless braids. First up are goddess knotless braids. The curly strands in between the braids make the look fun and special.
9) Knotless Braids with Curly Ends
And a great protective hairstyle for special occasions are knotless braids with curly ends. A style I’ve been dying to try and has been popularized by Jhene Aiko. It’s simple but cute and fun.
10) Knotless Braids with Heart
Last but not least, a hairstyle that is popular amongst teens, the knotless braids with heart at the side.
Are knotless braids good for natural hair?
If you just started your natural hair journey and looking to grow your 4c hair, then you might wonder if knotless braids are a good idea. Well. I’m here to tell you that, yes, knotless braids are good for natural 4c hair.
The key differences between knotless braids and traditional box braids is the way the braid is tight. Without tieing a knot at the root of your hair. It gives the braids a more natural look and causes less tension to your roots and baby hairs.
So it is a good braid style for someone like me who loves her hair in braids.
