Whoop whoop welcome! But, it also means that you realized that blogging is no joke and oftentimes the reason for a headache. The different options, the new terms and hundreds of do’s and don’ts can get very overwhelming. That’s why I decided to help you make sense of WordPress and guide you through the installation process.
Disclosure: Because I find Bluehost to be a great hosting platform for new bloggers, all links to Bluehost in this article are referral links. If you use this link to purchase a subscription, I’ll earn a small commission. This helps me to work in Ministry full-time and cover the expenses of this blog.
Hopefully, by now you have decided on a hosting platform. If not, I suggest you read this article I wrote about hosting your blog on Bluehost. Bluehost is one of the few hosting platforms directly recommended by WordPress themselves and one of the easiest ways to install your WordPress blog. They offer a 2-year plan for only $3 per month and upon signing up you receive one domain name for free, which will save you some money.
For this post, I will assume you already possess a Bluehost account (if not, get one NOW) and let’s get started.
How to install WordPress!
To start building a WordPress site, log into your Bluehost account and select “hosting”. That will get you into your Cpanel, which allows you to manage your website form a web-based interface.
On the following page, scroll down to the “website” section and click on “Install WordPress”.
This will bring you to a new screen on which you push the “install” button.
Now the system will ask you to select the domain for the installation. Note, that you can select each domain with or without “www.”.
Once you verified that your domain is available, proceed to the next page and click “show advanced options”. This will allow you to choose your WordPress username and password for your login.
Finally, push the “Install Now” button. The installing process shouldn’t take more than 1 minute. Please don’t close the page until you see a green check mark at the top of the page as well as the words “Installation Complete”.
Once the installation is complete, you will receive an email with your login details as well as a link to your WordPress login page.
Tadaaa you’re done! You successfully installed your WordPress site. Now you are on your way to becoming a Christian Blogger.
